We can suggest and organise day-trips or short excursions that can fit into your already planned trip.

Still Planning?

Your itinerary can be as tightly programmed as you like or with just a few planned items and plenty of free time to do your own thing. Once you are happy with the itinerary and flights, we will give you a competitive price for your own tailor-made tour.

MBT Will Do The Detail

Host A Group
If you want to host a group of like-minded people around Vietnam we can provide a special deal for you personally, if you can get together a minimum number of people. Ask us about the details.

Day Trips And Excursions
Apart from providing you with a guide and suggested itinerary for a large town or city, we can also arrange a range of day trips and excursions out of Saigon, Hanoi and other large towns. They can vary in duration from one day to seven. Before you leave Australia, MBT can set up one or a number of these activities so that when you arrive at your destination:

  • You won't lose time finding a suitable tour or a trustworthy company.
  • You won't have to worry about cost or having enough cash to pay for your tour.

After all, travel in a foreign country is hard enough without having to organise activities on the spot.

What's Available?
Here are some ideas of what you can do:

The Difference
You'll find that many people offer these sorts of day trips but what makes us different is:

  • We can tailor the day trip to your specific needs.
  • The quality of our guides and the information we give you about Vietnam will mean you will get much more out of your time with us.

Cruise Ships
Passengers on cruise ships call in to Saigon, Hai Phong, Ha Long Bay, Da Nang or Vung Tau. They usually stay a day and unless you organise it before-hand, trying to do some sightseeing or shopping is almost impossible. Furthermore, apart from the berth in Saigon itself, the other ports you dock a long way from anywhere. Ships that are too big to get up the Saigon River will dock at Vung Tau.

Let us organise your itinerary for you. We know where the ships pull in and how much you can expect to get done in a day.

Book While On Board
If you know who you're travelling with you can arrange your day before you leave home. However, if you don't know your fellow passengers, once you're on board, organise a group for your day in port in Vietnam and make the arrangements with us by email, phone or fax. Most ships these days have email or fax facilities. If you want to increase the size of the group once you're on board, just update us.

When You Dock
We will provide you with our guide's name and mobile telephone number. When you berth, the guide and a suitable size vehicle will be waiting. All you need to do then is call the guide and facilitate meeting up with each other.

What's Available
Of course what's available will depend on where you dock.

  • Vung Tau: It takes 2-3 hours to get to Saigon from Vung Tau. You need a long day to see Saigon from Vung Tau but it can be done. Vung Tau is not great for shopping but the city is interesting and has some wonderful seaside restaurants and magnificent views. The province of Baria-Vung Tau is a lovely rural area and easy to get around. The dock is a few kilometers outside of twon centre.
  • Saigon: There's plenty of shopping opportunities but a limited number of sights to see. The dock in Saigon is right in the centre of town.
  • Da Nang: There is reasonable handicrafts shopping in Da Nang including handicrafts from ethnic minorities. It is possible to get to Hoi An which is a special spot. In a day it is possible to get to Hue and back but to get a good look at the Citadel would mean a long day away from the ship. Liners dock north of Da Nang so you get to go over the Hai Van Pass if you head into town.
  • Ha Long Bay: It is possible to have a day on Ha Long Bay. Liners dock at Hon Gai the twin town to Bai Chai a few kilometers away where most of the cruise boats leave from.
  • Hai Phong: Hai Phong is a port city. it is a lovely provincial town but has limited tourist sights and limited shopping. It is connected to Hanoi by road and rail. The trip takes about three hours.

Specialty Tours

If you have a special group or a specialty that you'd like to indulge in Vietnam, we can make your trip come true with minimum fuss. Here some groups for which we can organise trips or tours.

Sporting Clubs
A post-season holiday is a great way to reward players for their hard work and commitment during the season. There are two important considerations for sporting clubs with overseas tours for players - health and safety and a need to add an extra dimension of cultural exchange and learning. MBT can arrange just the right mixture of fun and new experiences for your members. Young players and older officials can visit historic spots that have like the Battle of Long Tan site with its Memorial Cross that has such a strong connection to Australia. Vietnam is a very safe country with no terrorist threat and improvements in health and hygiene to first world standards.

Golf
Vietnam has some excellent and relatively inexpensive Golf Courses in all regions. The facilities are first rate and the courses of world standard. However, golfers say the greens slow down as you go around the holes because the grass grows so quickly.

Tennis
Vietnamese love tennis so there are courts in every town. We can organise for your group to play amongst yourselves or perhaps you'd like an international competition with local Vietnamese.

Cooking
Now this is where we can excel. With Kim-Dung's expertise, we can create a tour for you and your friends where you will get access to the knowledge, skill and techniques of the woman who pioneered authentic Vietnamese cuisine in Australia. Kim-Dung knows about Vietnamese cooking and knows what you will need to do to keep that authenticity you learn in Vietnam when you go back to Australia.

Bike Riders
Motor and pedal bike riders are at home in Vietnam. We will provide your group with the ideal trip based on the members' experience, age and level of fitness. We will fully brief you on how the roads work -we have all ridden in Vietnam for years - and we will provide a complete back-up and support system. You don't have to start and finish in the same place. There is however, a limit to the size of the bike we can provide.

The System In Vietnam

Filming in Vietnam is not as difficult as you might think. There is a very well established and skilled Vietnamese film and television production industry. The Vietnamese Government is very keen to assist film crews but you do need special visas and permission to film in various places. Documentary makers will find that the Foreign Press Office in Hanoi is extremely good at finding people and advising on locations. This sometimes takes a little while to get organised. MBT's personal connections with the Office can assist you.
